Below I have included different assessment types for my Spanish II Courses.
First is an example of a summative speaking assessment for Spanish II. Students complete this assessment early in the year after reading their first novel study for the year. Students choose one option from the grid to speak on in Spanish. Students record their responses via the technology tool FlipGrid and submit online to me. I do not give a time requirement for students as this is their first speaking assessment in Spanish II.
Next I have included a sample listening assessment. This is the final summative assessment for this mini unit, which reinforces previously learned vocabulary and introduces a few new vocabulary terms. In this listening assessment, students will listen to a pop song and fill in the blanks with the missing word or phrase that they hear. They will then define a predetermined set of vocabulary words. This assessment will take place 5-7 days after students are first introduced to the song and have had many opportunities to listen to the song, work with the lyrics, and practice the vocabulary.
Next is a summative writing assessment sample for Spanish II. In this unit, students look at how people around the world live and what material possessions they have in their dwellings. Students look at wealth privilege, luxuries versus necessities, and write comparisons. In this writing assessment, students will choose one photo of a home in a different country and compare it to their home. Students have a choice of thirteen different homes to compare their own living situation to. Also included is the rubric that I use to grade the writing.
Finally, I have added a reading comprehension assessment that I give students at the end of our second novel study in the spring. On this assessment, I am looking to see what students have learned about the contents of the book and what they understood from reading the novel. I am also looking to see if they can use new vocabulary in context.
