Below I have added some examples of activities that I do in my classroom. I believe that learning should be as engaging as possible, so often my room is very active and has many things happening at once. My students are frequently moving around the room, using paper manipulatives or working with content hanging around the room.
I have a flexible seating arrangement in my room, and my students do not sit behind a desk. This opens the room up for more relaxed conversation and provides a much easier opportunity to move about the room and interact with students.
Each March, my Spanish III and IV classes participate in a music bracket that I call "Mania Musical de Marzo". This is a collaboration with other Spanish teachers around the country to provide new content to our students in a fun and engaging way. Students listen to new songs, vote for their favorites, and work through a bracket to determine the winning song for that year. This activity is immensely popular with my students and helps them connect to the Spanish-speaking world, find enjoyment of Spanish in their everyday life, and learn about the perspectives of the culture. This photo is from our bracket in March 2021.
